The oil of the blood orange is extracted from the fruit peel. The blood orange originally comes from Asia, but is also cultivated in North Africa and southern Europe. It is somewhat harsher than other orange varieties and its flesh is dark red. Blood orange oil is used, among other things, for flavouring drinks and confectionery and for perfuming body care and household products.
