The bitter orange is also called bitter orange or sour orange. It originates from Southeast Asia, but was brought by traders to many parts of the world. Today, bitter oranges are cultivated in southern Spain, southern Italy, California, Mexico and South America. The oil of the bitter orange is extracted from the fruit peel. Bitter orange oil is used, among other things, to flavor beverages, confectionery and to perfume body care and household products.
