Pink grapefruit oil smells refreshing and has a pleasant, sweet characteristic. It is extracted from the skin of the fruit and is produced as a by-product in the production of juice concentrates. The oil yield is approximately 2 to 4 kilograms of oil per 1000 kilograms of fruit. The world annual production is about 1.5 million kilograms. Grapefruit oil is frequently used in various areas of the flavor and fragrance industry and is mainly used for flavoring beverages, confectionery and for perfuming body care and household products. Grapefruit has a high vitamin C content and is therefore considered to be very healthy.
